UpdatePoshmark Sellers Now Pay the $50 USPS Hazmat Fee
Since 19 Oct 2026, Poshmark sellers have paid the $50 USPS hazmat fee if a package is flagged. Old box markings are the usual cause. Here is the fix.
Reseller news, week of 2 Nov 2026
Since 12 July 2026, USPS has charged a $50 hazmat noncompliance fee on packages that carry hazardous material markings or aren't shipped under its hazmat rules. Until 19 October, Poshmark covered most of that fee for sellers. Since 19 October 2026, Poshmark sellers have been responsible for the $50 fee if USPS flags their package.
According to Poshmark, the most common cause isn't the item inside. It's a reused box that still has old hazmat labels or markings on it.
What sellers should know
- The date: since 19 Oct 2026, a flagged package means the $50 fee is yours, not Poshmark's.
- The usual trigger: reused packaging with old hazmat labels or markings still visible.
- Look for the diamond: the small black-and-white "Limited Quantity" diamond is easy to miss. Poshmark says it often appears on boxes from beauty products, aerosols and cleaning supplies.
- The fix: remove or completely cover all old hazmat labels and markings before you reuse a box.
- Not sure? Poshmark's advice is to use a new box or poly mailer instead.
Poshmark also points sellers shipping electronics to its electronics shipping guide, and to the USPS hazmat guidelines and its Support Center for more detail.
